Enerdatics analyzed global M&A activity in the biofuel sector. Our findings reveal that North America is the leading region for M&A activity in RNG and alcohol fuels. This can be attributed to the involvement of private equity firms and oil and gas companies seeking to take advantage of the $1/gallon tax credits. Additionally, investor interest in alcohol fuels is driven by EPA fuel blending mandates. In Europe, the focus on decarbonizing power generation is fueling deal activity for waste-to-energy and biogas assets. The UK is expected to maintain its dominance in deal activity, while Germany, Spain, and Sweden are emerging as high-growth markets.
