The National Copper Corporation of Chile (Codelco) has amended its 2007 electricity supply contract with ENGIE Chile's subsidiary, Central Termoeléctrica Andina (CTA), to transition from coal-based power to renewable energy.

Key Highlights:

⚡ 1,000 GWh of Renewable Energy: Supply begins on January 1, 2026

📉 New Rate: Effective from 2026 to 2032

Accelerating Decarbonization:

Codelco aims to ensure 85% of its energy supply comes from renewable sources by 2026, securing recent contracts such as:

– 375 GWh/year from Atlas Renewable Energy

– 350 GWh/year from Innergex

Additionally, in Nov'22, Codelco amended its PPA with Colbun, agreeing to gradually replace coal-based electricity with 100% renewables by 2025.
